Wichita Kansas Doll Show 2019

It has been a wild few months and yes still here! I finally accepted the fact that I cannot do everything...thereby not getting something done. Moving forward, did another Wichita Kansas Doll Show and it was even better than the last! Saw some old friends and met new ones!
Getting ready for setup:

All done:

We were so happy doing a pre-setup, made life so much easier!

My long time friend /co-worker was my show assistant

and first customer of the day!⬇😊

my little fugly contest baby. I am seriously thinking of making him an AA baby. I just couldn't connect to him. He seemed quite content with big eyebrows ( I redid them 4 times that I can remember and they always came out the same...go figure) 😖😂😂😂😂 I'll have to add the photo where he's in his competition outfit, they were adorable. The contest was really set up nice, didn't actually get to see the babies close up, but the pictures shared showed some beautiful babies for sure!

I also have my online store up and running! It was a bit hair raising but "I got er done"!

So feel free to browse and shop at my store!

You'll never guess...

This isn't a good month for me, so I throw myself into multiple projects because I can't multitask (thinking and working) at the same time. To make matters worse, they say it comes in 3's and I have had that in the last 2 days! One was a very wonderful cousin by marriage that passed and another was just a little baby, then my niece lost her half sister. I've had enough of bad news. Our 27th anniversary would have been tomorrow and the love of my life will be gone for 3 years the 25th. Time just seems to stand still for me, sometimes it seems like 3 months and then again 3 days then it seems like forever. I am improving, but my heart is still broken, I think that it will always be that way. You have your good moments, your up moments and even a few great moments, but that one memory pops in your head for some reason and you go rolling back down the hill. Thank God, it gets a little easier each time to pick yourself back up, it's slow but I can stand. With that being said.
You'll never guess what I've been up to! However, I'm just going to tease you with it! Yes, she's watching you...

Well baby has a name...meet

Jameelah!

She's not finished yet, so she will definitely be a New Year baby! I have to glue in her hair and fine tune a few things but I think that she came out wonderful! I still have to put her all together, but I needed to take photos of her so she's just kinda together. LOL I just love doing these tiny ones, I don't know why but it's just something about them. Her hair is gorgeous! I didn't go wrong getting her hair from TNGN (Deb) it's the color I want and just as soft as it can be! I love the fact that she lets you know what clip and what the name of the goat is and if the hair is kid or yearling. I even like how she prepares it, you know the cut end without a doubt. Anyway enough jabbering.

tried a little hair painting for the baby fine hair
added spit bubbles, removed the one on the far left, a little over-kill
we've got beautiful hair!
This one was taken with my cellphone so it's a little blurry

Ohhh, ohhh Cameron named Jamie is now living in England with his new mommy and nani, this is some of what she had to say:
:) we are all very happy amazed with Jamie he's amazing feels real, looks real you did a brilliant job !! My daughter very pleased with him we all are. Me and my daughter cried lol so thank you very much
After seeing someone on FB, she is also interested in can you guess? Yes, Jameelah as Jamie's baby sister, so much for the update, well I've got to get back to work!

Bountiful Baby has a new preemie kit by Pat Moulton "ANNA"

Cameron goes to LONDON and gets a new name!

I am so excited to say that Cameron nka Jamie found a home and it's in London, England! After he didn't make reserve I decided that I'd just wait until after New Years because I liked holding him anyway! He just had the most lovable face. However, a nice lady started emailing me about him 500 emails (literally, she was using her iphone) and the rest is history. He is on his way to his new home and new mommy! I mailed him express so that he should make it there just before Christmas. Now I have to nailbite until Jamie gets there and that they hit it off together.

It's been really hard with the holidays coming up. I try to keep busy, but I can't keep going 24/7. I have learned that in a year. My life is never going to be the same, I have accepted that. Still don't sleep well. Finally made myself get started again so went with this new sculpt. I started work on a new sculpt Anna (soon to have a name change?) by Pat Moulton  for Bountiful Baby. She is just the cutest little thing! Another preemie, I just so enjoy reborning them. IMPO, I really believe that she's going to be gorgeous.

She's 17 inches has adorable features of an african-American baby. The new BB Vinyl takes getting used to.
I had to start matching her soon to be tummy plate and so I did several thin washes of green to neutralize it and lavender wash to her parts. I wish the feet had a little more detail but it's a minor stepping stone. I just love her face and can't wait to finish her. I hope before Christmas, waiting on some kid mohair from Deb from TNGU Nursery. It's going to be perfect for her.  I may even enter her in BB prototype contest for the heck of it.
Here she is with her second lavender wash and working on her lips. I have a baby portrait photo that I am just in love with it's what I am using as a guide to attain her skintone coloring. I learned to start with the lips and work my way out with the preemies. Don't ask, I just do.

Maybe I'll get lucky and  find a home for little fugly "Jeffery" and the twins; Paris and Raven!  Well I will try to keep you updated on her progress. From my heart to yours... Hugs, Judie

She's getting better, she's getting hair

Finally got her shadows and highlights right. Who would have thought that you could paint hair with Quinacridone Magenta and Phthalo Blue. It does have a soft look and no she's not finished, she still needs some more layers just like a reborn! LOL
I am going to try this on a test head to see how it works/looks on vinyl. I still have more work on her and looking forward to starting on my next canvas. I'm all signed up for my next session to learn more and finish her at last. I know that I will not be painting canvas, I'll stick to my 3 dimensional babies! LOLROTF
Got my colors mapped out for Jack, Capri and my little Asian baby Jiao to start VERY soon. I also got me a heat gun that I am dying to try out.

I can't seem to find a larger convection oven so this might be my next resort for my larger sculpts. I really love GHSP's but then I limit myself on my sculpt sizes that I can use in my little oven. I refuse to use my cooking oven to heat the kits. From all that I have read this takes less time and you can localize areas that you are working on. I have a larger one already for my bigger areas.

YEAH!!! Guess who finally got all of his hair!

Keanu is so happy!!! He gave me a run for my money but I think that he turned out quite well. He even got to go outside (with the rest of his body in tow! LOL)

So what do you think, almost ready for adoption? Have to do his portfolio now! Then he can have a DOB and TOB!

What to do...what to do?

Hummmm, so many things going on in my head, for starters while trying to figure other blog functions (of which I found I don't have the patience that I used to have any more), in hopes of how many ways to best show my Will Beth' outfits and booties that I have for sale. I just love their little outfits so I became a dealer. I am hoping it will be seen here as well as on my website once I get it all figured out. lolrothf

Then I was compelled to jump on (once again) Bountiful Baby's 24 hour body sale! I really love their bodies and the feel of the doe suede and they ship so fast, so much so, I find it's easier to order than to make my bodies. You might know what I am talking about here, I really don't like the one's that if you have any roughness on your hands they make them feel like sand paper! I could never figure out if it was the body or my hands? lol I have never had any problems with BB bodies or joints and I love the different sizes. I have added a pocket when I wanted a heartbeat baby in a smaller body, but with this sale...well what can I say...got me some more "heartbeat" pocket bodies in other sizes! When they were selling out their 1/4 limb bodies, I jumped on those too! You can easily modify and make them fit 3/4 limbs!

At the same time I am convincing myself to go ahead and get the last piece of "Sisters Forever In Elderly Years" by Thomas Blackshear as a birthday present to myself instead of Christmas. I have been waiting over...well I forgot it's been so long for this piece, the final edition!!! I fell in love with his work years ago starting with The Guardian a beautiful...no gorgeous Black angel with magnificently detailed white wings protecting two little children...I still look at him (I don't know who he used as a model but wow!). From there I was hooked and then he came out with other angels that I liked..."Serenity and He Hears Our Prayers ". I am an angel lover and I believe in them. I really wanted "The Protector", but it never happened, it came out before I knew about T. Blackshear so I guess it wasn't meant to be. I couldn't afford it now.

Through the years I collected several more pieces and then came the sisters theme: "In Childhood" (The first), "A Time to Share" (teenagers),"In Motherhood" (obvious)and now "In Elderly Years" (matriarchs, like my sisters and me). I vowed they would be my stopping point and so far I have been good to my word. Now...to complete the set.
